Cochrane Training Courses 2017

What is the aim of the courses?

The aim of the Cochrane Training Courses is to build awareness and capacity in conducting and using systematic reviews in the island of Ireland. The HRB and the HSC Research & Development Division in Northern Ireland (HSC R&D Division), in association with the Training Team of Cochrane Ireland and the UK Cochrane Centre are now seeking applications for the two-day course in systematic reviewing. 

What training courses are on offer?

Two-day Cochrane Systematic Review Course
The two-day training course will continue to be offered as it has in recent years. This intensive two-day course will cover systematic review methodologies and critical appraisal skills. The course is suitable for individuals working in the health and social care area who are planning to conduct a systematic review themselves and require more detailed knowledge of systematic reviews.
The proposed dates and venues for the two-day courses are as follows:

  • Galway – 9 & 10 March 2017
  • Cork – 27 & 28 March 2017
  • Sligo – 6 & 7 April 2017
  • Dublin (#1) –  20 & 21 April 2017
  • Dublin (#2) –  15 & 16 May 2017
  • Belfast - 8 & 9 June 2017
  • Dublin (#3) - 4 & 5 September 2017

How to apply for a place on the two-day training courses

To apply for the two-day courses, the application form below must be downloaded, completed and emailed to Cochrane Ireland as an attachment. NOTE: Do not submit the application form to the HRB or R&D offices. Applications must be submitted on the appropriate Cochrane Ireland application form. The application form and guidance notes are available at the links below.

Completed application forms should be sent by email to: cochrane@dcu.ie

Applicants will be informed about their success in attaining a place on a course as soon as possible after the deadline.

When is the deadline for applications?

The deadline is Wednesday, 15th February 2017 at midnight. Late applications will only be considered after all on-time applications are reviewed and course places confirmed. Further information is available in the guidelines document below.

This 2-day course has been approved for 11.5 Category I CEUs by the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Ireland and for 12 external CPD credits by the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland. An application for CPD credits has been made to the Royal College of Physicians of the United Kingdom (for the Belfast course only).
